In February, a series of earthquakes caused widespread devastation in southern Turkey and northern Syria, killing more than 50,000 people and damaging 66,000 buildings.

With countless homes destroyed or damaged by the earthquake, affected families were forced to sleep in the open in freezing temperatures, jeopardizing the lives of millions who had already been displaced by war in northern Syria.

In response, Chittenango Rotary teamed up with the international relief charity, Shelterbox, to provide assistance to quake victims. Club members raised $3,200 for the effort, which Shelterbox used to provide temporary shelters and cooking materials to families in the region.
